Metaphosphate is the product of the redox reaction between the acidic hydroxyl group of metaphosphoric acid and metal, that is, the product of the phosphorus hydroxyl group being replaced by metal ions. Metaphosphate is an industrial reagent that exists in a variety of aggregation states such as hexametaphosphate.
